ABOUT ME:

My name is Shaun Sharp, and I am the owner of Sporting Moments by Shaun – a Melbourne based photography service focused on capturing those key moments on and off the sporting field. I work with clubs, teams and individuals wanting to immortalize their athletic and sporting achievements in an image. 

I have an innate understanding of sport, having played sport all my life and coached different sports from the grass roots level to working with state and national level athletes. This involved contributing to and witnessing the pride of a parent watching their child achieve their first successes on the sporting field to seeing the commitment and determination of athletes, where success and failure is measured by millimetres or milliseconds.  

Now with a camera in hand, rather than a whistle, I understand how powerful visual media can be!  An image can convey athletic prowess, power, speed, control, and endurance, where the human body is pushed to its very limits. And for every action in the sporting arena comes the accompanying emotions! I love capturing the emotions of sport! The sheer jubilation of an athlete breaking their personal best by one thousandth of a second, the pride in the eyes of a child’s parents as they kick their first goal, the smile on the face of a beginner surfer standing up for the first time... Even the frustration of a coach as their athletes endures challenges and the heart break of that unfathomable loss - as the old adage goes - ‘A Picture can say a thousand words.’ I love telling the physical and emotional stories of athletes of every age and ability through the medium of an image.

I hope that by viewing the images in my galleries, you can gain an insight into the emotions each athlete is experiencing in that fleeting moment -The strain and effort to beat an opponent to the ball, the fatigue after riding up a steep hill 120km in an Ironman event, kindness shown to those who are struggling, the pumping adrenaline as you drop into a 5m wave at Bells Beach, or the sheer jubilation of winning that game in the final seconds.  

These are the moments I love to capture, and I would feel privileged to capture these moments of you and your team in the future!
